There has been a Methodist presence in the town of Market Rasen since 1800. The present Church was originally known as Centenary Chapel and was opened in 1863. It has been described as an 'immensely impressive classical style non-conformist chapel'. Of particular note are the Ionic pillars and pediment, and, internally, the original boxed pews - some with glazed doors and fitted furniture, the central pulpit and oval gallery. It is a large Grade II listed building and there are on-going plans for developments for the use of the building.
The following activities take place:
Men's Fellowship, Monday evenings, October - March
Ladies Group, Tuesday evenings, Monthly.
Network Wednesday fellowship, Afternoons.
Monthly Sunday Lunch for those living alone.
Recent improvements to the premises have made the schoolroom and kitchen area a desirable venue for community groups to use. Current users are : Banner-making Group, Guides and Brownies, a Share the Care Carers', RATS;
Bookings welcome for the use of rooms.
Within the town there is a very active Ministers' Meeting across the denominations: Anglican, Catholic, Methodist, Salvation Army and New Life. This group plans joint events in the town periodically, and oversees committees for Christian Aid, Women's World Day of Prayer etc.
