MRDF E-News- Transforming lives

MRDF E-News
June 2010

MRDF

Welcome to the June edition of E-News with all the latest updates from MRDF.

Women's groups in Tanzania are being trained in business management so they can set up small businesses - like this flour making group.

With MRDF support, this women's group has set up a successful business that produces and packages flour.
Transformation in Tanzania

Women in rural areas of Tanzania are setting up small businesses, with support from an MRDF partner.

Unable to access loans and voice opinions in their communities, women in some parts of Tanzania are often confined to the lowest paid jobs in society. However training in business and finance management is enabling them to set up successful enterprises.

Theresia used to be dependent on seasonal labour and was struggling to afford food for her children. Now she has a profitable business processing rice. Read her story
here.

With the end of the General Election you can still keep asking the climate question and make sure the new government keeps it at the top of the political agenda

Did you Ask the Climate Question?

MRDF supporters joined forces with campaigners across the country to Ask the Climate Question during the 2010 General Election. More than 13,000 emails were sent to parliamentary candidates asking them to put climate change at the top of the political agenda and 4,000 campaigners attended special Climate Question Time events throughout the UK.

It is now crucial that we hold the new government accountable to their pre-election promises. As part of the Stop Climate Choas coalition, MRDF is supporting a lobby of parliament on 20 October.
