District Property Secretary Required
Helpful Criteria:
Believe that buildings are and should be a tool for mission.
Computer literate and have access to a computer and e mail facilities.
A knowledge or are willing to discover how the Resourcing Mission Office (RMO) and Trustees for Methodist Church Purposes (TMCP) links with the districts and circuits.
Main Responsibilities :
- The Chair and the District Property Secretary consider all schemes within Standing Order 930 proposed within the District.*
- Examination of all relevant quinquenniel reports, annual schedules and decides whether further investigation
is required and the necessary steps taken.
- The preparation of reports to the District Policy Committee and Synod, regarding property schemes, use of Circuit Advance Funds etc
- Receiving and retaining copies of correspondence between Resourcing Mission Office (RMO), Trustees for Methodist Church Purposes (TMCP) and local churches and circuits.
- Being conversant with the Methodist web site and matters relating to property.
- Attending the Annual Resourcing Mission Conference and other relevant training / information opportunities.
- Visiting on request churches which are considering a property schemes.
- Being a member of the District Resourcing Mission Grants Committee.*
- Member of the District Policy Committee and Synod
- Arrange if and when required appropriate training courses for circuit / local property stewards.
* In Spring 2010 the District will be “On Line” regarding property schemes. The DPS will be a member of the District Consents Making Panel (which is to be established) and it is not advised that they are also a member of the DRMG.
Ideally someone to take office from 1st September 2010 but to work alongside Rev Jenny Park the current District Property Secretary so that the person is conversant with the new ways of working and property matters before Jenny retires in 2011
